Who we are
Adharshila (Adhar: foundation, shila: stone) is a young NGO, based in Kalkaji and Hauz Rani in New Delhi, India whose mission is to build foundations at the grassroots level with dedication and sincerity.

Adharshila’s founders, Ms. Neena Jolly and Ms. Geeta Arora started the NGO in October 2004 with the aim of ensuring sustainable slum development.
The NGO works for the upliftment of the underprivileged section of society by striving to empower and enable them, especially women, through our vocational training programs, social justice initiatives, advocating human rights, counseling and awareness workshops.

Adharshila’s strength lies in building partnerships with fellow NGO’s. Corporates, Government Organisations, Civil Society and National Inter-national Organisations.
It is registered under the Societies Registration Act with special tax exemptions under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act 1961 and under Foreign Currency Registration Act.

How we started
After assisting humanitarian events for about a decade and publishing a directory of 1,500 NGOs, Ms. Neena Jolly and Ms. Geeta Arora were inspired to establish a Non-profit organization of their own.

They were inspired by the philanthropic work that many NGO’s were doing, and the desire to work at the grass-root level motivated them to start this organization. They uphold their vision through close partnerships with slum communities.

All the programs of the NGO are designed to cater to the needs of the intended beneficiaries. These programs are made available to them through their centers located at Kalkaji and Hauz rani, New Delhi, although the facilities are offered at only these locations, they are not limited to those residing in these areas.
